[Two letters to Lord Burghley] : [contemporary copies referring to lease of Redbourne ...]. [1579]

These letters can be identified as originating from the muniments room at Stiffkey, the manor bequeathed by Sir Nathaniel Bacon to his eldest daughter Anne, wife of Sir John Townshend of Raynham and mother of the first baronet, Sir Roger Townshend (1588-1637). They were sent to Lord William Burghley by his nephews, Sir Nicholas and Nathaniel Bacon concernaing a disputation about the estate left by their father, Lord Keeper Sir Nicholas Bacon who died in 1579 -- from: Prest, Wilfrid.
